Our Hunts

Our Coues Deer hunts take place in Sonora, Mexico near the town of Banamichi.

Hunters meet us in Tucson, Arizona and we drive from there into Mexico.

One of the things we get out of the way up front: Travel days from Tucson to the ranch are long. The drive from Banamichi to the ranch is a long one; it takes two to three hours of climbing mountains. But the scenery along the way is incredible and the hunting on these remote ranches is well worth the time and effort to get there.

Hunt Details:

Our trips are all eight days long. A travel day from Tucson, six full days of hunting, then another travel day to get back to Tucson. We handle all of the paperwork for your firearm and hunting permits.

Your guide will know the ranch and have extensive Coues deer experience. We use powerful binoculars and spotting scopes to help find the deer you are looking for on this hunt.

Most of our starting points to glass can be driven to, so you don’t have to be in “sheep shape” for these hunts. However, the more you can hike and the longer you can shoot, the more opportunities you will have at a great buck. Shot distances on these ranches the last few years have ranged from 125 to 600 yards. Whatever your comfort level is for mobility and shooting, we will work our tails off to make it happen for you.

With that much time and the number of deer that we will see, we typically do 2 hunters per guide. If you have a group of three that would like to hunt together, we can handle that, too.

The Deer:

We always say, “Finding deer is not the problem on these ranches, finding the right buck in a place where we can do something about it is the challenge.” You will see LOTS of deer. We are fortunate to work with ranch owners and cowboys who love these deer as much as we do, so the number of deer taken each year is low.

We have seen some true giants on these ranches that will score above 110”. We regularly see bucks that will break 100” and plenty of deer that will break 90”. Our guides work as a team and we share information on who is seeing what and where throughout the week.

You can also expect to see plenty of other unique animals like javelina, Gould’s turkey and coatimundi.

The hunts take place in December and January, so you can expect to see plenty of pre-rut to full rut activity.

The Food:

This gets its own special section because the food you will have on this hunt will be outstanding. Our local Mexican cooks will supply you with traditional favorites of tacos, burritos and enchiladas that are second to none. And if you need a break from Mexican food (it happens!) we will have plenty of other options, too.

How to Book a Hunt:

We were very fortunate to be almost sold out for the 2024/2025 season with primarily repeat clients.

We typically have hunt dates that straddle New Year (the working class/this is when I can get time off special) and another set of dates in mid-January.

Our rate for the 2025-2026 will be determined soon.

To hold a spot for next season, we ask for a $1,800 deposit per hunter. Typically we schedule one more payment in the summer and a final payment in the fall.

Just shoot us an email at info@amigosguideservice.com to get started!

Currently, we only offer guided hunts in Mexico. Arizona is where we spend as much time as possible hunting on our own with family and friends.
